Upgrade to wordpress seem to be difficult for such conditions :
- Self hosted wordpress in shared hosting.
- Self hosted wordpress ( free hosting)
- Self server with little memory
I face few problem when doing wordpress upgrade.
In this case ” You don’t have sufficient permission to access this page ”
Upgrade WordPress
Downloading update from http://wordpress.org/wordpress-2.8.3.zip.
Unpacking the update.
Verifying the unpacked filese
Installing the latest version
Upgrading database
WordPress upgraded successfully
That message display when upgrade process went smooth, but when something wrong like insufficient memory that might happen in shared hosting I choose to do in old way : WPAU way.
New case for me, I check file permission etc but still can’t find where the problem is.
WordPress automatic upgrade come to rescue, upgrade first and investigate later.
Backup files section, choose to backup or ignore this section.
Backup database section, I recommend you to save your database. Only take a moment.
Get or upload the latest version of WordPress
I choose get the file, it will utilize hosting company bandwidth. Never fail for my case.
Click Lets GO
Next task is put the site in maintenance mode, by click CLICK HERE link.
Deactivates all the plugin
Upgrade successfully accomplished.
All plugins reactivate
Your wordpress installation has been upgraded.
Clean up temporary file by click link ‘Clean Up‘
This task will save many headache by doing this.
